Ether briefly broke its record on Thursday before sliding back. The second largest digital currency reached $4,362 on Thursday, surpassing its record high of $4,366.09 from May 12, according to CoinMarketCap.

Bitcoin also breaks records
Ethereum blockchain’s native coin record-breaking follows bitcoin smashing its own record yesterday. Bitcoin’s rally spilled over to the whole crypto market, whose total capitalisation reached record $2.7bn.
The rally was sparked by a successful launch of the first US bitcoin-linked exchange-traded fund earlier this week. The Bitcoin Strategy ETF attracted a record $1bn inflows on its opening day.
Ether retreated and was trading at $4,222 at the time of writing.
