Shares in US financial services and digital payments company Square rose 2.53 (1.08%) an hour after Thursday’s markets closed following losses earlier in the day, following a tweet by CEO Jack Dorsey that said the company was launching a new fintech platform focusing on Bitcoin services.

Dorsey said the as yet unnamed platform would be "focused on building an open-developer platform with the sole goal of making it easy to create non-custodial, permissionless, and decentralized financial services."

The company would be created along the same lines as Square’s new Bitcoin hardware wallet, Dorsey added, being “open roadmap, open development, and open source.”

The business is being built in collaboration with Tidal, CashApp, and Seller.
