FuelCell Energy, Inc. Company profile

FuelCell Energy, Inc (FCEL) develops, designs, manufactures, installs and maintains fuel cells for clean electric power generation. The company's fuel cell system offers a clean, efficient alternative to traditional combustion-based power generation that works in tandem with variable energy sources like solar and wind turbines.

Founded in 1969, FuelCell offers a variety of fuel cell products. The main product is SureSource, a carbonate fuel cell product line that can be used for on-site power, utility grid support, distributed hydrogen, micro-grid applications and multi-megawatt applications.

The next major product is SureSource Recovery, which is used for natural gas pipeline applications. It also provides SureSource Capture technology, which captures carbon emissions from coal or gas-fired power plants while also generating electricity.

The SureSource Storage solution is an energy storage system that utilises solid oxide electrolysis cells (SOEC) to convert excess power into hydrogen for long-duration storage applications. The hydrogen produced from SOEC can be stored and used for grid-power, hydrogen fuelling stations or as an alternative to natural gas reforming for industrial usage.

The company, headquartered in Danbury, Connecticut, has many customers, including utility companies, universities and hospitals, government facilities, data centres and the hospitality industry. The United States and South Korea are currently its main markets, but the company is pursuing opportunities in other countries around the world.

Ordinary Shares of FuelCell Energy are traded with the ticker symbol FCEL on the Nasdaq Global Market. It became a publicly-traded company in 1992.
