For many centuries, lumber has been applied for construction purposes all over the world. However, only the Industrial Revolution brought lumbering to such a large production scale. Lumber is always unique, because there are no two completely equal trees. Namely for this reason, the American Lumber Standard introduced the national rules regarding the national standards for lumber grade, dimensions and moisture content in 1920s. Hardwood lumber, including maple and oak, is often used for industrial needs, such as wood pallets manufacturing. While colourful lumber with interesting patterns is highly-demanded by the home flooring and furniture producers.
