Frequently asked questions

With the Capital.com MCP server, you get access to 38 tools across 7 categories – all through your AI interface.

What is the Capital.com AI trading platform?

The Capital.com MCP (Model Context Protocol) server connects AI interfaces – such as Claude, Cursor, Windsurf, and Codex – directly to your Capital.com trading account. It gives your AI interface access to live market data, your account positions, and trading tools, all from within your AI interface.

Can AI trade automatically on my behalf?

No. All orders require your explicit confirmation. The Capital.com MCP server uses a two-step process: your AI interface previews the trade, and you must confirm before it executes. AI cannot trade autonomously on your Capital.com account. For market orders, confirmation and execution happen at the same time. For working orders (limit or stop), you confirm once at placement; execution then happens automatically when your price is reached, with no further prompt.

What AI interfaces work with Capital.com?

The Capital.com MCP server is compatible with any MCP-compatible AI interface, including Claude, Cursor, Windsurf, and Codex. New interfaces that adopt the MCP standard will be compatible automatically.

What can I do with the Capital.com AI trading platform?

You can access live market data, view your account balance and open positions, place and manage orders (each requiring your explicit confirmation), create watchlists, and receive real-time price and P&L streaming – all through your AI interface. The Capital.com MCP server includes 38 tools across 7 categories.

Is AI trading on Capital.com regulated?

Yes. Capital.com is regulated by the FCA (UK), ASIC (Australia), SCB (Bahamas), and in CMA (UAE). All AI-assisted trading via the Capital.com MCP server is subject to the same regulatory standards as standard trading on the platform.

What asset classes can I trade with AI on Capital.com?

You can trade CFDs on forex, indices, commodities and shares through the Capital.com MCP server – all asset classes available on the standard platform.

What is an MCP server?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard developed by Anthropic that allows AI interfaces to connect to external services and tools. The Capital.com MCP server uses this standard to give AI interfaces direct, secure access to your trading account.

Is the Capital.com MCP server open-source?

Yes. The Capital.com MCP server is open-source and available on GitHub. Developers can inspect, fork, and extend the codebase.

What is the difference between Capital.com's AI trading platform and a trading bot?

A trading bot acts autonomously without requiring your approval. The Capital.com MCP server is different – your AI interface can retrieve market data and preview trades, but every order requires your explicit confirmation at the point you place it. You remain in full control at all times.
