Founded in 1972 by American engineer Dennis Tito, Wilshire was an early adopter of applying computer technology to investments. The company led the way in creating the first asset-liability model for pension funds in the 1970s, a decade before accounting firms began to employ the technology. Wilshire was also one of the first companies to produce investment management tools to create index funds and optimise portfolios.
Based in Santa Monica, California, Wilshire has offices throughout the US, as well as in London, Singapore, Amsterdam, Melbourne, Hong Kong and Suzhou in China.
