What is the SOFIX?

SOFIX

The SOFIX, also known as the BSE Sofia, is the official stock market index for the Bulgarian stock exchange. It was formed on 20th October 2000 with a start value of 100, and it uses the current Bulgarian currency, the Bulgarian lev – abbreviated to BGN.

Where have you heard about the SOFIX?

If you’ve ever dealt with or invested in any companies based in Bulgaria – for example, companies operating from the country’s capital, Sofia – you may be aware of the SOFIX. The index includes 15 companies from a wide range of different industries.

What you need to know about the SOFIX.

As Bulgaria’s official stock market index, the SOFIX represents the total of the market capitalization of the 15 Bulgarian companies within the index portfolio. The sum of the market capitalization is shown for both the current day and the previous day. The companies featured in the index are from industries such as pharmaceutical supplies, real estate, engineering and investment funding. Featured companies include Industrial Capital Holding AD-Sofia, Bulgarian Real Estate Fund REIT-Sofia, Chimimport AD-Sofia and Sopharma AD-Sofia. A Bulgarian exchange-traded fund, the Expat Bulgaria SOFIX UCITS ETF, was launched in 2016 with the purpose of tracking the performance of the SOFIX index.
