Fundrise was founded in 2012 by Ben and Dan Miller. It’s one of a number of start-ups that use technology to enable individual investors to access private market investing.

Through the platform, relatively small sums of money from a large number of investors are pooled to help property developers finance projects.

Fundrise currently offers two products: eREITs and eFunds. eREITS give opportunities for investment in commercial and rental properties, including high-profile developments. eFunds are an opportunity to invest in funds dedicated to the development of single family housing in cities such as D.C. and Los Angeles. Investors can invest as little as $1,000 in an eFund.
