Phoenix Group is the largest insurance services provider in the United Kingdom. The company operates as the leading consolidator of heritage life insurance funds in Europe. Phoenix specialises in the management and acquisition of closed life insurance and pension funds across the UK, Ireland and Germany.

In total, the group has £248bn of assets under management and over 10 million policyholders. The company works through four operating life companies, which hold and administer policyholder assets. They include: Phoenix Life (Phoenix Life Limited and Phoenix Life Assurance Limited), Phoenix Ireland, Phoenix Wealth and Standard Life. 

They produce and underwrite new policies and products to support people saving in areas, including self-invested personal pensions and workplace pensions. Phoenix also has a distribution brand SunLife, which sells a line of financial products for more than fifty markets. 

The company was founded in 1857 as the Pearl Loan Company. In 1990 it was bought by the AMP, the Australian Insurance group. Later in 2003, NPI, Pearl and London Life were demerged from the AMP to form Henderson Group.

In 2005, the Pearl Group was acquired by Sun Capital Partners, and in 2009 by the Liberty Acquisition Holdings Company. In 2010 Pearl Group was renamed to Phoenix Group Holdings. 

The Phoenix Group is listed on the London Stock exchange under the ticker symbol PHNX. Phoenix stock is a constituent of the FTSE 100 index.
