Jumia Technologies AG Company profile

Jumia Technologies is a pan-African e-commerce platform established in 2012. Headquartered in Berlin, Germany, it offers services across 11 African countries. 

Known as Africa Internet Holding until January 2019, the company connects sellers with consumers through the Jumia marketplace and provides logistics and payment services through Jumia Logistics and JumiaPay. 

As of December 2020, Jumia had 6.8 million active customers and 110,000 annual active sellers with 90% items sold on the marketplace. This gives it a gross annual merchandise value of €836m ($918.89m).

Jumia offers a variety of products that include apparel, beauty and personal care products, home and living goods, fast-moving consumer goods, beauty and perfumes, smartphones, and other electronics. It also offers services such as restaurant food delivery, hotel and flight bookings, classified advertising and instant delivery, among others. 

Jumia Logistics helps in the delivery of goods through its large network of leased warehouses, pick-up stations for consumers and drop-off locations for sellers, and has more than 300 local third-party logistics service providers. The entire logistics process is integrated and managed through Jumia’s proprietary technology.

Jumia has partnered with UNICEF to support the Giga project that aims to connect every school to the internet and help every young person have access to information, opportunity and choice.

Jumia went public on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) in April 2019 under the ticker JMIA.
