Doximity Inc. (DOCS) is an online social networking platform dedicated to medical professionals in the US. Headquartered in San Francisco and described as the ‘professional medical network for clinicians’ or the ‘LinkedIn for doctors’, Doximity’s platform provides users with a range of features designed to improve communication between doctors, patients and other medical practitioners.
Doximity went public in June 2021, listing its shares on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the ticker symbol DOCS.

The platform, which launched in 2010, was co-founded by Nate Gross, Shari Buck and Jeff Tangney, with a vision to make medical communication effortless – helping clinicians to be more productive, thereby enhancing the patient experience. By 2014, 40% of US physicians had become Doximity members. In 2017, membership had grown to 1 million, accounting for more than 70% of registered physicians in the US.
Similar to other social networking platforms, Doximity is packed with features. Alongside a news feed which provides tailored content to users based on their specialisation or interests, Doximity’s comprehensive directory of medical practitioners allows users to search for other users – be it to discuss a patient referral or catch up about their weekend. Other features include a secure faxing tool, as well as Doximity Dialer, giving members the capability to make telephone or video calls with patients, while ensuring the confidentiality of the user’s personal contact details.

On 28 May 2021, the company announced its intention to launch an initial public offering (IPO), filing S-1 with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The IPO took place on 23 June 2021, with Doximity selling 23.3 million shares priced at $26 a piece. It raised nearly $600m.
On 24 June, the stock started the trading session on the NYSE at $41.17 a share, before rapidly rising to an intraday high of $53.89 a share. The share price closed the trading day at $53, up 31%.
