What is the BET-10?
The Bucharest trading index, also known as the BET or the BET-10, is the most prominent and popular stock index for the Bucharest stock exchange, based in the capital city of Romania. It currently functions as the reference index for Romania’s capital markets.

If you’ve ever invested in companies that operate in Romania, or you’re aware of Romania’s economy and markets, you’ll likely have come across the BET-10. The index features companies from a wide variety of sectors, including natural gas, banking, telecommunication services and healthcare.
What you need to know about the BET-10.
The Bucharest trading index tracks the movements of the 10 companies on the Bucharest stock exchange with the highest level of liquidity. However, the index does not include companies working within the financial investment sector. As well as a high level of liquidity, the index also requires companies to have high standards around transparency, quality reporting and communication with investors.
Some of the companies included in the index as of 2017 are Banca Transilvania, S.N. Nuclearelectrica, OMV Petrom, SC Fondul Proprietatea, and MedLife. The index is weighted by free float capitalisation, with a maximum weight of 20%.
