US Cash Grains-Corn, soy basis steady to mixed as harvest progresses
CHICAGO, Oct 22 (Reuters) - Spot basis bids for corn were mostly steady with a few mixed changes at grain elevators and processing sites in the US Midwest on Thursday as the harvest advanced under mostly clear skies, spot checks showed.
Chicago Board of Trade corn futures were hovering near three-month lows set on Wednesday, chilling farmer sales.
But CBOT soybean futures bounced from two-month lows set a day ago, buoyed by hopes for additional US soybean sales to China and strength in crude oil futures, analysts said.
The corn basis fell by a dime a bushel at an ethanol facility in Union City, Indiana, but firmed by 4 cents at Seneca, Illinois, on the Illinois River.
Soybean basis bids were mixed at processing sites. The basis strengthened by 10 cents at a Lafayette, Indiana, crushing plant but fell by 10 cents at a Cedar Rapids, Iowa, facility.
