Ryazan refinery halted processing at one primary unit after drone attacks, sources say

By Reuters News

- Russia's Ryazan oil refinery has suspended operations at one of its primary crude distillation units following a drone attack in the region on Thursday, two industry sources told Reuters.

A big Ukrainian drone attack on Russia's Ryazan region caused a fire to break out at an oil refinery, the regional governor Pavel Malkov said on Thursday.

The sources said on Friday that one of the oil refinery's main units, CDU-6, was halted following the attack. The unit had previously been suspended after another attack last month. During the latest attack several refinery pipelines were also damaged.

The refinery has another three primary crude distillation units - CDU-1, CDU-3 and CDU-4 - which continue to operate and may be used during the CDU-6 outage, according to the sources.

Rosneft ROSN.MM, which owns the refinery, did not reply to a request for comment about the attack on the plant.

The Ryazan oil refinery, which feeds Moscow with fuel, has been attacked several times this year. The plant has a processing capacity of 17 million metric tons per year, or some 340,000 barrels per day. The refinery can produce 3.4 million tons of gasoline and 3.8 million tons of diesel per year.
