'High quality' Q3 beat lifts Scor shares

By Reuters News

** Shares in Scor SCOR.PA rise 4% after the French reinsurer beat analysts' expectations for Q3 net income as strong underlying performance in its P&C business helped offset an active quarter for natural catastrophes

** Its Q3 net income comes in at €206 million ($230.68 million), ahead of the company-compiled consensus of €176 million

** Jefferies says the result is a "high quality beat to consensus" driven by lower regular claim losses in the P&C division rather than fewer natural disaster claims

** Broker adds that the life and health division also reports stronger-than-anticipated underwriting profits without being overly reliant on one-off events

** The stock is heading for its best day in 5 months if gains hold

** Up to the previous session's close, shares were up 14.9% YTD
