Colombia plans investment regime to attract major investments, government says
BOGOTA, Oct 28 (Reuters) - The Colombian government is developing a special regime to attract major investments in key sectors as it hopes to foster "enormous growth in the copper industry", Deputy Minister of Mines Luis Madriñan said on Wednesday.
The plan would include 30-year contracts for investments exceeding $150 million, Madriñan said during the Colombian Coal and Coke Summit in Bogota. He added that Colombia needs to increase copper production to 1.5 million metric tons, up from the current 600,000 metric tons.
