New CSO role to propel growth and diversification strategy
LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM, 06 December 2023 - Capital.com, the high-growth trading platform, has today announced the appointment of industry veteran, John Austin as its Chief Strategy Officer. Based in London, John will be responsible for implementing strategic direction, fostering innovation and driving initiatives that contribute to the company's growth trajectory.
John joins Capital.com with more than 2 decades of experience in the derivatives trading and brokerage space, most notably as a senior executive of IG Group where, over several years, he held group-wide responsibility for dealing, online marketing and data science. He has also led strategic initiatives such as the development of Nadex, a US derivatives exchange; and Spectrum, a Frankfurt-based MTF. More recently he served as Chief Strategy Officer at LMAX Group, where he worked on a series of strategic projects in the FX brokerage and Crypto exchange space.
John's extensive experience also includes a period in investment banking, where he was involved in designing and executing large-scale structured transactions for Barclays Capital. Beyond his corporate roles, John served on the Advisory Board of Coinrule, a fintech startup. John holds an MA from Cambridge University and an MSc in Finance from London Business School.
This appointment underpins Capital.com’s commitment to strategic growth and follows strong year-on-year growth. Trading volumes across the platform reached USD 1.2 trillion at the end of November 2023, eclipsing its 2022 highs by more than 17%.
