Volkswagen triggers review of future wage deal, ends some agreements

By Reuters News

- Volkswagen VOWG.DE said on Wednesday it had triggered the review clause in its future wage agreement with IG Metall and would terminate various collective agreements with effect from Dec. 31, 2026, to secure room for staff reductions.

The carmaker said the future wage agreement, including its employment protection provisions, was not affected by the terminations.

The tense market environment and the need to cut costs meant the 5% pay rise demanded by IG Metall did not fit the current situation, VW said. Further talks with the union were planned for the second half of October.
