US Cash Grains-Soy bids mixed as rains slow harvest, corn mostly steady-firm

CHICAGO, Sept 30 (Reuters) - Spot basis bids for soybeans were mixed in the US Midwest on Wednesday as harvest delays continued to curb the flow of grain in some areas while other sites lowered their posted bids in anticipation of increased supplies in October, dealers said.

• The posted soybean basis tumbled by 50 cents a bushel at a crushing plant in Decatur, Indiana, for soybeans delivered in October and November.

• But the soybean basis strengthened by 8 cents a bushel at Decatur, Illinois, site of another large crusher.

• The soy basis improved by a nickel a bushel at Davenport, Iowa, where grain is loaded onto barges for shipment on the Mississippi River toward exporters at the US Gulf Coast.

• Corn basis bids were mostly steady to firmer.

• The corn basis strengthened by 15 cents for grain delivered by Friday to an ethanol plant in Annawan, Illinois.

• On the Chicago Board of Trade as of 10:53 a.m. CDT (1553 GMT), December corn was up 2 cents at $5.24 a bushel and November soybeans were up 8-1/4 cents at $13.06 a bushel as market players awaited the USDA's quarterly grain stocks report, due at the top of the hour. GRA/
