Potential alternative bid for Brighthouse could alleviate broader industry concerns, Evercore says

By Reuters News

** Evercore says a potential alternative bid emerging for life insurer Brighthouse Financial BHF.O could help alleviate some broader industry concerns

** Sixth Street is looking to renew its long-shot bid to acquire BHF, Bloomberg News reported on Tuesday

** BHF last year agreed to be acquired by Aquarian Capital in a $4.1 billion transaction, but the deal is yet to close and remains under regulatory review

** "Most investors that we speak with have mentioned the uncertainty on what happens with BHF if the Aquarian deal doesn’t get approved as a risk factor for the life sector," Evercore analyst Thomas Gallagher says

** BHF stock trading at $52.08, well below the $70 offer from Aquarian last year
