NCC to construct 70 kms of high-voltage power lines in Västra Götaland
NCC has signed a construction contract with Svenska kraftnät covering the Horred-Breared power line project. The project is the first construction contract under the Västra Götaland business package and has an approximate order value of SEK 1 billion.

The Horred-Breared project will include the construction of 70 kms of new 400 kV overhead power lines between the Breared substation in Halmstad Municipality and the Horred substation in Mark Municipality along the same corridor as the existing lines, which will also be dismantled as part of the project. This will be the first phase of the Västra Götaland business package agreed by NCC and Svenska kraftnät in August 2025.
“NCC has in-depth energy transmission expertise and extensive experience in managing large and multifaceted infrastructure projects. The strategic partnering agreement with Svenska kraftnät will enable us to create economies of scale and ensure important knowledge transfer that will strengthen NCC and the implementation of future subprojects under the Västra Götaland business package,” says Tomas Brannemo, Head of NCC Infrastructure.
Work on the Horred-Breared section began back in 2025 with planning, design and preliminary works. A groundbreaking ceremony was held in spring 2026 to mark the start of the project, and NCC subsequently began certain time-critical works. The project is moving into its next phase of full-scale production in conjunction with the signing of this construction contract, with completion scheduled for the first half of 2029. The order value is approximately SEK 1 billion and will be registered in the NCC Infrastructure business area in the third quarter of 2026.
