Kazakhstan's September oil and gas condensate output falls 7% from August, source says

By Reuters News

- Oil and gas condensate production in Kazakhstan declined by 7% in September from August because of maintenance at a large Karachaganak field, an industry source said on Friday.

Production of crude and gas condensate, a type of light oil, declined in Kazakhstan last month to 7.65 million metric tons, or 1.92 million barrels per day, the source said, adding that output at Karachaganak fell to only 42,000 bpd from 241,000 bpd in August.

The decline at Karachaganak was partially offset by a production increase at Tengiz, Kazakhstan's largest oilfield, where output rose to 951,000 bpd in September from 882,000 bpd in August, the source said.

The energy ministry and operators of Karachaganak and Tengiz did not reply immediately to requests for comment.

Total oil and gas condensate output in Kazakhstan for the January to September period reached 69.4 million tons, down from 75.7 million tons in the same period last year.
