CIF/FOB Gulf Grain-Soybean, corn barge bids ease; USDA data awaited
CHICAGO, Sept 29 (Reuters) - Basis bids for soybeans and corn shipped by barge to the US Gulf Coast were lower on Tuesday as traders turned their attention to coming US stocks data and a rain-soaked harvest in parts of the Midwest. GRA/
FOB export premiums remained steady.
The results of last week's US-China summit underwhelmed the market and drove down prices.
The decline encouraged bargain buyers to emerge before the US Department of Agriculture issues a quarterly stocks report on Wednesday, traders said. They also adjusted positions before the end of the month and quarter.
US farmers harvested 17% of the soybean crop and 18% of the corn crop as of Sunday, USDA said after grain trading ended on Monday. That matched five-year averages but was below analysts' expectations of 20% for both crops. States including Iowa were behind schedule.
