Australia shares set to open lower, NZ falls
Oct 1 (Reuters) - Australian shares were expected to open lower on Thursday, likely weighed by mining stocks, a day after a softer inflation print calmed market nerves erasing near-term rate hike bets.
The local share price index futures was down 0.5%, a 21.3-point discount to the underlying S&P/ASX 200 index .AXJO close. The benchmark closed 0.9% higher on Wednesday.
Across the Tasman Sea, New Zealand's benchmark S&P/NZX 50 index .NZ50 fell 0.2% in early trade.
