Research Frontiers Incorporated (the Company) is engaged in the development and marketing of technology and devices to control the flow of light. The Company develops and licenses its patented suspended particle device (SPD-Smart) light-control technology to other companies that manufacture and/or market the: SPD-Smart chemical emulsion, light-control film made from the chemical emulsion, the light-control panels made by laminating the film, electronics to power end-products incorporating the film, or the end-products themselves, such as smart windows, skylights and sunroofs. It has approximately 40 companies that are licensed to primarily serve five SPD-Smart application areas, including aerospace, architectural, automotive, marine and display products. The Company has approximately 246 patents that have been issued worldwide. In addition, it has patent applications in the United States and other countries.
BRIEF: For the fiscal year ended 31 December 2021, Research Frontiers, Inc. revenues increased 52% to $1.3M. Net loss decreased 21% to $1.8M. Revenues reflect an increase in demand for the Company's products and services due to favorable market conditions. Lower net loss reflects Research and Development decrease of 8% to $580K (expense). Basic Earnings per Share excluding Extraordinary Items increased from -$0.07 to -$0.06.
