Castor Maritime is a global shipping company engaged in the transportation of commodities, including iron ore, coal, grains, steel products, fertilisers, cement, bauxite, sugar and scrap metals. The company owns dry bulk and tanker vessels. Castor Maritime drives its revenues from time charter, bareboat charter and spot charter contracts.
Castor Maritime was incorporated in September 2017 when it took ownership of its first vessel, Magic P. The company is headquartered in Cyprus. Its stock is listed on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange under the ticker CTRM.
According to the company, its primary goal is to grow its fleet through the acquisition of new and modern vessels. Currently (17 March), Castor Maritime owns a fleet of 29 vessels, with an aggregate capacity of 2.5 million deadweight tonnage (dwt), consisting of 1 Capesize, 7 Kamsarmax and 12 Panamax dry bulk vessels, as well as 1 Aframax, 6 Aframax/LR2 and 2 Handysize tankers.
Petros Panagiotidis is the founder of Castor Maritime. He’s been the company’s chairman, CEO and CFO since its establishment in September 2017.
According to the company, its fleet is managed by Pavimar. Pavimar has in-house ship management expertise that allows it to provide and oversee every step of the fleet’s management, including, but not limited to, shipping operations throughout the life of the vessels, the superintendence of maintenance, repairs and dry-docking, insurance arrangements, provisioning, bunkering and various aspects of administrative support, the company said.
