Today the USA is considered a world leader in corn exportation (responsible for 20% of the world’s corn), as well as the leader in corn production (accounting for 39% of the world’s cultivation). Second place goes to China. The major part of corn production goes for livestock feed, accounting for more than 90 percent from the whole feed grain production and use. Corn is also widely-applied for ethanol and food production. Corn futures are traded on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME Globex) under the ticker symbol ZC.
