India, China, the USA, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Russia and the UAE are the top buyers of gold jewellery. Gold futures are traded on COMEX, one of the two divisions of the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX). COMEX deals solely with metal trading. 50% of the above-ground gold is in jewellery, 40% is investments, 10% in industry. It is widely used in electronics and high technology. Gold is a good electrical conductor, has a high level of corrosion and chemical resistance
