iShares Global Clean Energy ETF Company profile
The iShares Global Clean Energy ETF (ICLN) is an exchange traded fund (ETF) that aims to track the S&P Global Clean Energy Index, the fund’s benchmark index composed of global equities in the clean energy sector.
ICLN ETF provides investors with exposure to companies that produce clean energy from solar and wind to other renewable sources. Some of its biggest sectors include electric utilities, semiconductor equipment, renewable electricity, and heavy electrical equipment. The fund’s geographic exposure is dominated by US, Denmark and Canada stocks followed by China, Portugal, Spain and others.
As of May 2022, the fund had an expense ratio of 0.42% and consisted of around 76 holdings. The fund invests around 80% of its portfolio in the underlying S&P Global Clean Energy Index, and up to 20% of its assets in futures, options and swap contracts, cash and cash equivalents.
The fund was launched on 24 June 2008 on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). The iShares Global Clean Energy ETF is traded under the ticker symbol ICLN.
