Globalstar, Inc. (GSAT) provides Mobile Satellite Services (MSS) worldwide, including voice and data communications services via satellite.

Based in Covington, Louisiana, the company offers the following services:

1. Duplex two-way voice communication and data transmission.

2. One-way or two-way communication using mobile devices, including with the company’s GPS-tracking SPOT products, which can transmit messages and the device’s location.

3. One-way data transmissions using a mobile or fixed device that transmits its location and other information to a central monitoring station. The products include the company’s commercial Internet of Things (IoT), such as the battery and solar-powered SmartOne, STX-3 and ST100 (commercial IoT).

4. Engineering services to assist specific customers.

The company provides these wireless communications services through its low Earth in-orbit satellites network.

As of 31 December 2021, Globalstar served 768,000 subscribers worldwide in recreation and personal; government; public safety and disaster relief; oil and gas; maritime and fishing; natural resources, mining and forestry; construction; utilities; animal tracking; and transportation.

The company’s communication allows customers to operate, travel and live in regions where the services are not readily available or not provided on a reliable basis.

Globalstar was founded in 1991 as a partnership between Loral Space and Qualcomm. Four years later, Globalstar went public. Its stock is traded on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the ticker GSAT. In 2004, Thermo Companies purchased Globalstar and became the majority shareholder
