US Cash Grains-Soy, corn basis higher as harvest progresses
CHICAGO, Oct 29 (Reuters) - Basis bids for soybeans and corn were steady to higher in the US Midwest on Thursday as farmers focused on harvesting and futures weakened.
The US soybean harvest was 79% complete and corn was 60% complete as of Sunday, the US Department of Agriculture reported, and merchandisers said progress was farther along in many areas.
Soybeans slid, while corn was largely unchanged, with prices under pressure from a US harvest that boosted supply.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture on Thursday pegged weekly net soybean export sales for the current marketing year at 2,576,400 metric tons. It pegged weekly net corn export sales at 1,303,900 tons.
Chicago Board of Trade most-active soybean futures fell 6 cents to $12.32 per bushel. Corn futures fell 1 cent to $4.51 per bushel.
