Turkey - Factors to Watch on Sept 28

ISTANBUL, Sept 28 (Reuters) - Here are news, reports and events that may affect Turkish financial markets on Monday.

The lira was quoted at 48.9730-48.9825 against the U.S. dollar at 0410 GMT, after closing at 48.9650 on Friday.

The BIST 100 index .XU100 closed 0.09% higher at 12,899.35 points on Friday.

GLOBAL MARKETS

Share markets were mostly lower on Monday as oil prices popped higher again amid doubts the United States and Iran will reach a truce anytime soon, keeping bonds under pressure ahead of a week packed with economic news.

CABINET MEETING

President Tayyip Erdogan chairs a meeting of the cabinet of ministers (1300 GMT), with items on the agenda likely to include the investigations into investment funds and alleged stock market manipulation, U.S.-Iran tensions and security in the Black Sea. Erdogan will brief the media after the meeting.

AK PARTY RESIGNATION

A deputy chair of President Erdogan's ruling AK Party stepped down after an opposition politician accused her of making a large profit on shares just before a funds crisis triggered a major selloff on the country's stock market.

MILITARY TALKS

The military chiefs of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey discussed enhancing intelligence sharing, military coordination and capability integration at a meeting in Riyadh on Friday, according to statements from Saudi Arabia's Defence Ministry and Pakistan's military.

FOREIGN MINISTER IN UAE

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will visit the United Arab Emirates for talks expected to focus on coordinating Gulf regional security, and on the situations related to Iran, Yemen and Gaza.

PEACE PROCESS

Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz will chair a meeting of the National Solidarity and Integration Coordination Board, which is overseeing the process of ending the conflict with the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) militant group. (0630 GMT)
