Trevi shares rise after Webuild sweetens takeover offer

By Reuters News

** Shares in Italy's Trevi Finanziaria Industriale TFI.MI are up 5.8% after Webuild WBD.MI raised its takeover offer price for the group

** Webuild said on Monday it reached an agreement to increase its stake in Trevi to about 18.9%, valuing Trevi shares at €5.165 ($5.79), and added any shareholder accepting its offer will receive the same amount per share tendered

** In another statement on Friday, Webuild also reduced the threshold condition for the offer to be effective to 50%+1 of voting rights in Trevi, compared to the 66.7% previously required

** The purchase "substantially increases the likelihood of the offer's success," says Intermonte brokerage, pointing also to the lower acceptance threshold

** It notes Webuild's cash offer price now equals the sweetened price proposed by rival construction company ICOP ICOP.MI, which Trevi board judged favourable but "not financially adequate" due to the structural challenges in ICOP's share offer

** Trevi shares now trade at €5.15, slightly below Webuild's offer price
