Rheinmetall wins option order for 69 more Schakal combat vehicles
Oct 29 (Reuters) - Germany and the Netherlands ordered 69 additional Schakal wheeled infantry fighting vehicles under options in a joint procurement programme, lifting total orders for the Boxer-based platform to 291 vehicles, Rheinmetall RHMG.DE said on Thursday.
Germany is set to receive a total of 185 Schakals under contracts awarded so far, while the Netherlands will receive 106. Deliveries of the newly ordered vehicles are scheduled between 2032 and 2033.
The Schakal combines the Boxer armoured vehicle chassis with the Puma infantry fighting vehicle's unmanned turret and is being introduced as the main combat vehicle for Germany's new medium-force formations, which are intended to deploy more rapidly than heavy armoured units.
