INVESTORS LIKE EUROPE, JUST NOT THE EURO ZONE
Investors have been buying European stocks, but they are being discerning about it, and on a country-specific level, most inflows are going into non-euro zone markets.
Looking at the region's largest markets, flows into non-euro zone countries are up $8.29 billion this year, compared with a net outflow of $2.17 billion for the main markets in the single-currency bloc.
October so far has witnessed something of an improvement for the euro zone, with flows turning net positive for Germany for the first time since February and with Italy heading for a fourth straight month of inflows.
That said, the euro zone cohort is heading for a net outflow of $372 million, in October, stark contrast with the nearly $1.7 billion in net inflows into UK, Swiss and Scandinavian equities.
Drilling down within the euro zone, it's no surprise to see French equities are the outlier, set for a net outflow of $138.5 million this month, which would mark a 16th straight monthly outflow, according to LSEG/Lipper data.
