Ipsen falls after US FDA approves generic Somatuline

By Reuters News

** Shares in Ipsen IPN.PA fall about 7% after the US Food and Drug Administration approved Amneal's generic version of the company's blockbuster drug Somatuline

** Both J.P. Morgan and Jefferies see the FDA approval as increasing pressure on Somatuline

** JPM adds "we see the crystallisation of Amneal generics as minor negative for Ipsen", noting it could cause low single-digit downward revisions to FY26 consensus forecasts

** Jefferies says there is a longer-term risk from competitor Camurus' late-stage SORENTO trial, which could lead to a 10% downside to consensus profit forecasts for 2028 and 2029 if CAM2029 proves superior to Somatuline

** J.P. Morgan reiterated its "neutral" rating and Jefferies its "underperform" recommendation for Ipsen

** Including today's fall, the stock has gained 21.6% YTD
