Enbridge seeks support for Texas-Louisiana gas pipeline expansion

By Reuters News

- Enbridge's Texas Eastern Transmission said it is seeking customer interest for its proposed Katy to Gillis Expansion Project, a natural gas transportation project that could provide up to 2 billion cubic feet per day of capacity.

  • The project is designed to move natural gas from the Katy Hub in Texas to growing demand markets in southwest Louisiana.

  • The project would be developed in collaboration with Mustang Express Pipeline LLC and would combine transportation services on the Mustang Express and Texas Eastern systems.

  • The proposed project is expected to enhance access to LNG export facilities and industrial and power generation markets along the US Gulf Coast, Enbridge said in a statement.

  • The non-binding open season started on October 7 and will close on October 30, during which prospective customers can submit transportation requests.

  • An open season lets potential customers indicate how much pipeline capacity they would like to reserve before a company decides whether to move ahead with a project.

  • Subject to securing sufficient commercial support and required approvals, the project is targeting an early 2031 in-service date.
