Chinese nickel makers in Indonesia weigh double-digit production cut after meeting

By Reuters News

- Chinese nickel producers are considering steep, coordinated production cuts at their Indonesian operations following a meeting earlier this week, sources familiar with the matter said, although no final decision has been made.

Companies were weighing halving production of mixed hydroxide precipitate, an intermediate product used to make chemicals for electric vehicle batteries, according to three sources. Senior executives are also weighing cutting nickel pig iron output by 20%, said two of the sources and another two familiar with the matter.
