- Australian shares were poised to open lower on Monday, with likely losses in gold stocks from softer bullion prices set to outweigh potential gains in energy stocks from higher oil prices.

The local share price index futures fell 0.5%, a 21.2-point discount to the underlying S&P/ASX 200 index .AXJO close. The benchmark ended flat on Friday.
