Winmark Corporation is a franchisor of five value-oriented retail concepts that buy, sell and trade gently used merchandise. The Company operates through two segments: Franchising and Leasing. The franchising segment franchises value-oriented retail store concepts that buy, sell, trade, and consign merchandise. The leasing segment includes the Company’s equipment leasing business. The leasing segment includes Winmark Capital Corporation, middle-market equipment leasing business and Wirth Business Credit, Inc., small-ticket financing business. It offers licenses to operate franchises using the service marks Plato’s Closet, Once Upon A Child, Play It Again Sports, Style Encore and Music Go Round. The Company also operates a middle market equipment leasing business through wholly owned subsidiary, Winmark Capital Corporation. The Company has approximately 1,266 franchises in operations.

Financial summary

BRIEF: For the fiscal year ended 25 December 2021, Winmark Corporation revenues increased 18% to $78.2M. Net income increased 34% to $39.9M. Revenues reflect Franchising segment increase of 30% to $67.1M, Retail Sales-Royalties increase of 31% to $60.8M. Net income benefited from Franchising segment income increase of 41% to $44.8M. Dividend per share increased from $0.80 to $1.60.
