It operates in one reportable segment, the research, product development, manufacture, and distribution of cellular therapies for use in the treatment of specific diseases. It markets two autologous cell therapy products in the United States, which includes MACI (autologous cultured chondrocytes on porcine collagen membrane) and Epicel (cultured epidermal autografts). The MACI is an autologous cellularized scaffold product indicated for the repair of symptomatic, single, or multiple full-thickness cartilage defects of the knee with or without bone involvement in adults. The Epicel is a permanent skin replacement humanitarian use device (HUD) for the treatment of adult and pediatric patients with deep-dermal or full-thickness burns comprising greater than or equal to 30% of total body surface area (TBSA).
