US markets Thanksgiving schedule 2021: open and closed

Wall Street will be closed on the American Thanksgiving Day holiday on Thursday, 25 November.
Markets then open for shorter sessions on Friday, 26 November.
The day after American Thanksgiving, known as Black Friday, marks the official start to the holiday shopping season.

When US markets are open on Black Friday
- The New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq will operate from 9:30 am to 1 pm ET
- The Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association recommends a 2 pm ET close for Treasury markets.
- Gold futures will close at 12:30 pm ET, while US crude oil will settle at 1:30 pm.
Black Friday sales expected to be strong
In an interview with Capital.com, Clemson University economist Bruce Yandle said that, since back-to-school spending rose this past fall on a year-over-year basis, “we can expect healthy Christmas season spending.
“Black Friday will look pretty good,” he continued. “Expectations of higher future prices may also give an additional positive nudge.”
