FirstGroup Company profile
FirstGroup PLC (FGP) is a UK-based multinational transport group with operations in the UK, Ireland, the US, and Canada. Its headquarters is located in Aberdeen, Scotland. The group is the British largest bus operator, maintaining over 20% of all local bus services, owning 9,000 buses and carrying around 2.9 million passengers a day. It also runs passenger rail services around the UK. The FirstGroup share price included in the FTSE 250 Index and listed on the London Stock Exchange. The FirstGroup roots trace back to 1986 when the deregulation of bus services took place in the UK. This event led to the private companies purchasing municipal and nationalised bus operators. That is when FirstGroup’s history started. Throughout the years, the company has expanded via multiple acquisitions. In 2018, the company’s annual revenue was £6.4 billion.
