Yara International ASA is a Norwegian chemical company. Its largest business area is the production of nitrogen fertiliser, but it also encompasses the production of nitrates, ammonia, urea and other nitrogen-based chemicals. The company was established in 1905 as Norsk Hydro – the world's first producer of mineral fertilisers – and de-merged as Yara International ASA in 2004. It is headquartered in Oslo, Norway. Yara International has a worldwide presence with more than 16,000 employees and operations in over 60 countries. It is listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange under the ticker (YAR). In 2017, Yara reported a revenue of 11.4 billionUSD. The Norwegian Government owns more than a third of Yara International and is its largest shareholder.
