Genus PLC (GNS) is a is a world-leading animal genetics business. Headquartered in Basingstoke, UK, it sells products produced using biotechnology to pig and cattle farmers. The business has manufacturing facilities in key locations around the world, paired with sales forces in 75 countries. The Genus share price is listed on the London Stock Exchange and included in the FTSE 250 Index. The company’s beginnings date back to 1933 when the Milk Marketing Board’s Breeding and Production Division was founded in the UK. The key breakthrough in the Genus development happened in 1999 when the business acquired ABS Global, a US-based company founded by J.R. Prentice.
