Founded in 1886, American Water Works (AWK) is a holding company for market-based and regulated subsidiaries, mainly operating in the United States and Canada. Through its numerous divisions, the company specialises in the operation and maintenance (O&M) of water and wastewater facilities. It serves various businesses and residential communities, including military, food & beverage and gas exploration companies. Headquartered in Voorhees, New Jersey, American Water employs over 6,800 people and provides services to more than 15 million customers.
