Alliance Trust PLC (ATST) is a publicly traded financial services and investment company with its headquarters in Dundee, Scotland. The ATST share price is listed on the London Stock Exchange and included in the FTSE 250 Index. The beginnings of Alliance Trust date back to 1888 when it was formed by the merger of three Dundee-based mortgage and land companies. Many influential figures of that time, including textile manufacturers, ship owners, merchants, and businessmen, such as Sir John Leng, invested some of their money in the Trust and its predecessors. The company’s initial public offering took place on 15 January 1999. Nowadays, Alliance Trust is one of the largest investment trusts in the UK with its goal to become the main holding for investors who want to increase value over the long term run.
