Founded in the late 1990s, the group is strongly oriented towards the online bookmaking and mobile staking on regulated markets. Today, the company employs over 8,000 people across 16 offices and 620+ retail shops, as well as has 6 million active customers in more than 100 countries worldwide. The Paddy Power share price is listed on the London Stock Exchange (LSE). The company is also a member of the FTSE 100 Index. In 2018, the business reported annual revenues of over £1.9 billion.

The PPB group separates their activities into four core segments: the online division, comprised of Betfair and Paddy Power sports betting operators; the retail division, that runs 600+ Paddy Power betting shops across the UK and Ireland; the Australia division, in charge of Australia's largest online bookmaker Sportsbet, and the US division, comprised of a horse racing TV channel and an online betting network TVG, which is active in over 35 states. Additionally, the company has an online casino and a horse racing betting exchange in New Jersey, US.

The PPB share price reached its all-time high on 1 February 2016, trading at £107.70.
