Interpublic Group of Companies, Inc. (IPG) is an American advertising agency headquartered in New York City, New York. Together with its subsidiaries, the company offers advertising, digital marketing, PR, communications planning, specialty marketing and media buying. In addition, it provides event management, corporate and brand identity services, sports and entertainment marketing, and strategic marketing consulting.
The company has a workforce of over 50,000 employees, who work in the company’s offices located across over 100 countries globally.
The company’s origins date back to 1930. Initially it had an alternative name and was registered as McCann-Erickson. In 1961, the business was renamed Interpublic Group, the name it goes by today. That same year the company set up its first holding unit. The unit was responsible for marketing management services and was operating a major subsidiary – McCann-Erickson.
The company’s brand portfolio includes FCB, Craft, Weber Shandwick, UM, R/GA, Octagon, MullenLowe Group, MRM//McCann, Momentum, MAGNA, Jack Morton Worldwide, Initiative, Huge, Golin, and FutureBrand. The Martin Agency, ID Media, Hill Holliday, Deutsch, Carmichael Lynch, Campbell Ewald, Avrett Free Ginsberg are also the company's brands.
The brand strategy is based upon three big networks – MullenLowe Group, FCB (Foote Cone and Belding), and the McCann Worldgroup.

MRM/McCann is engaged into relationship management and digital marketing. Momentum handles promotion activities and event marketing, while McCann Health oversees healthcare communications.
FCB is a full-scale marketing communications provider. Involved in analysing and changing clients’ behaviour, the company employs over 8,000 specialists and has offices in 80 countries.
MullenLowe Group is a large diversified network of agencies that reaches out to over 60 markets. The company focuses on brand strategy, performance analytics, content development, communications planning, digital marketing, shopper marketing, etc.
The company has two reportable units – Constituency Management Group and Integrated Agency Networks.
Interpublic Group of Companies pioneered a number of activities and trends that were later picked up and applied by the other industry players. For example, the company was the first to massively increase corporate diversity. It introduced the position of Diversity Officer to its employee roster and hired a Supplier Diversity Director.
