Haitong Securities Co., Ltd., together with its subsidiaries, primarily engages in the securities business in the People's Republic of China and internationally. The company operates through Brokerage, Assets Management, Proprietary Trading, Investment Banking, Direct Investment, Finance Lease, and Overseas Operations segments. The Brokerage segment trades in equities, bonds, funds, and warrants, as well as futures on behalf of the customers; and provides margin financing and securities lending services. The Assets Management segment offers traditional asset management products and services, and private equity asset management services. The Proprietary Trading segment trades in equities, bonds, funds, derivatives, and other financial products. The Investment Banking segment provides corporate finance services, including equity underwriting, debt underwriting, and financial advisory services to institutional clients. The Direct Investment segment makes direct equity investments in private companies; and invests in private equity funds. The Finance Lease segment engages in the finance lease operations. The Overseas Operations segment provides broking, margin financing, corporate advisory, placing and underwriting, trading and investment, financial planning and advisory, and banking services. The company is also involved in the individual finance, financial products investment, physical commodities broking and dealing, and securities investment management activities; and provision of investment advisory and management, and consultancy, as well as fund trading, distribution, and management services.
